Assemblywoman Marcia Karrow Visits Mansfield

At Wedensday's township committee meeting, Assemblywoman Marcia Karrow gave a legislative update and fielded questions from the committee and members of the public. "It's refreshing to see and hear our representatives in Trenton at a public forum on a local level," said Deputy Mayor George Baldwin. Karrow, who said her philospohy is "less government is better government," spoke about legislation she has introduced in response to the Highlands Act. She is a prime sponsor of the Highlands Repeal Act and Highglands Improvement Act. Other bills she has introduced are designed to extend transfer of development rights state-wide, so the core areas do not bear the burden of all the development that would have gone into the preservation areas, Karrow said.
Karrow represents the state's largest legislative district, which has 700 square miles and 45 municipalities. The next largest has 26. She intends to have town hall meetings in all the constituent municipalities between June 1 and November 1.
