Historic Preservation Funded

At its Wednesday night meeting, the township committee approved $24,000 in historic preservation expenses. The Rockport Presbyterian Church was presented with a check for $14,000 by Mayor Joseph Watters and the Anderson United Methodist Church with one for $10,000. The funds were used for restoration of the Rockport church's original 1855 steps and work on the Anderson church's belltower as well as other repairs. The funds came from the dedicated open space, recreation and historic preservation trust funded by a three cent tax established by voter referendum.
