2007 Municipal Budget Introduced

At its Wednesday, Feb. 28 meeting, the Township Committee of the Township of Mansfield introduced its 2007 budget. The budget calls for a one and half cent increase in the tax rate due mostly to increased pension costs. For the owner of an average residential property assessed around $237,000 the tax increase will amount to approximately $37. One cent on the tax rate raises $65,000; the increase in pension costs from 2006 was almost $54,000. A public hearing on the budget will be March 28 at 8 p.m.
