Construction Office

As of February 1, 2011, Construction Enforcement services will be provided to the Township of Mansfield by the Washington Township, Morris County Code Enforcement Office. Permits may still be obtained at the Mansfield municipal building, in the administrative offices on the upper level. Permits may also be obtained at:

When submitting plans for something other than minor work two sets of detailed plans either architect/engineers or the homeowner may draw their own with sufficient knowledge of the codes. Once submitted, the application and plans are reviewed and either approved or denied, based on the information supplied. The Contractor/Owner is then notified by phone whether changes need to be made or the permit is ready for pick up. Once payment is received then the permit is issued.

If you are considering having work done on your home, there are some things you should know before hiring a contractor. First, ask to see his or her contractors license. It should state the type of license (Building, Electrical, Plumbing or Mechanical Contractor), and the company name and address. The expiration date should be valid through the year, and include their permanent ID number.

Zoning Office

The Township of Mansfield Zoning Office reviews applications for permits to construct in certain zones for specific construction types as regulated by township land use code and grants or denies permits as appropriate. Potential violations are investigated by the office. Other responsibilities include providing land use information to the public, as well as reviewing surveys and plot plans submitted by applicants.
