PoliceThe Township of Mansfield is located in Southern Warren County. Our municipality borders the Counties of Hunterdon (Lebanon Township) and Morris County (Washington Township). Our community is comprised of residential, commercial, industrial and farmland. Housing and large commercial developments in the township have changed the footprint of the Township, as we once knew it. The Mansfield Township Police Department was organized in 1972. During that period the department consisted of a Chief and several part-time officers. Over the years the demand for service has increased and the department currently consists of fifteen (15) sworn officers and a civilian administrative assistant. A Chief of Police, Four (4) Sergeants, One (1) Corporal, One (1) Detective and Eight (8) patrol officers service the department. The department covers approximately 29.65 square miles and approximately 8,200 residents. The training and experience of this department allows us to solve a large amount of our reported crimes, in excess of 81%. Our department is broken down into three (3) specific divisions; they are; Administrative Division, Field Operations Division and the Support Services Division. This department mandates continuing education programs for our officers, as to meet the ever changing demands of our citizens. We strive to project a professional image, and conduct ourselves in a professional manner, on duty and off... The department is actively involved in Cops-n-Shops (under cover officers posing as store employee’s at local liquor stores), Warren County Narcotics Task Force, Bicycle Patrol, Neighborhood Watch Programs and other crime prevention programs. Community Service oriented programs include Child Seat Inspection, Senior Programs, bike safety programs and project ID.
Officers of this department take great pride in servicing the citizens of Mansfield Township. The department has several officers that are certified as Emergency Medical Technicians (E.M.T’s) and continues to educate the remaining officers until the entire department are trained E.M.T’s. We also participate in the Warren County SCART (Serious Crash Accident Reconstruction Team) and Warren County Tactical Entry Team. The primary function of this department is the same as all other professional law enforcement agencies; to detect and deter crime, apprehend violators and to complete all investigations in a professional manner so the cases can be presented in a court of law for disposition. All emergency calls for service are handled through the Warren County Communications Center. For those residence with true emergencies can dial 9-1-1. For those residences with non-emergency calls are urged to utilize our seven-digit phone number 908-852-0003. The administrative phone number is 908-689-6222.
